Build a Nested Checklist

Structure tasks with indentation and tick off subtasks directly in your browser.

Your list stays on this device. It is not transferred or stored permanently.

Enter an outline

Use one task per line. Two spaces or one tab creates a sublevel, up to five levels.

Create clear nested checklists

A nested checklist breaks a larger plan into manageable sections and specific actions. It is useful for travel preparation, moving home, events, study plans or recurring work routines. Start with a simple text outline and the tool immediately turns it into an interactive checklist. Progress is based on the lowest actionable tasks, while higher-level items act as summary groups for the work beneath them.

Create subtasks with indentation

Every non-empty line becomes an item. Start top-level items without indentation. Two spaces or one tab before a line creates the next level, and further indentation creates additional sublevels. You cannot skip a level because that would leave the parent relationship unclear. You may optionally start text with a hyphen or an asterisk; the builder removes that marker. The tool supports up to 100 entries, five sublevels and 100 characters for each item.

Complete tasks and whole sections

Selecting a parent item marks every task beneath it as complete. If you change only one child item, its parent automatically shows a mixed state. This makes it easy to see which sections are complete, partly complete or untouched. The progress bar counts only the lowest tasks, so headings and grouping items do not inflate the result. Every control works with a mouse, touchscreen or keyboard.

Local processing without storage

The outline and its completion state are processed only in the open browser window. There is no upload, account or permanent browser storage. Reloading or closing the page returns the checklist to its example. This deliberate limit keeps the tool simple and prevents personal tasks from being left unintentionally on a server or a shared device.

Limits of this first version

This checklist is intended for short-term planning and immediate use. It does not yet provide saving, share links, collaboration, due dates, reminders or file exports. For critical project, security or compliance work, use a system that permanently records changes, ownership and evidence. Copy important source information into your own document before closing the page.
