Loaded PDF
This PDF already appears heavily compressed. Further significant size reduction may not be possible.
This PDF is very large. Processing may take longer or require more memory depending on your device. If needed, split the PDF into smaller sections first with Split PDF.
Compression
With strong compression, images and small text may visibly lose quality.
A lower resolution reduces file size but can make images and scanned text less sharp.
Color conversion changes how the document looks.
In this mode, searchable text, text selection, links, forms, comments, and other interactive PDF features may be lost.
Preview (raster mode)
The preview shows one page after the selected raster compression.
Compress PDFs for free
PDF file size can often be reduced by optimizing images and document data – especially for scanned or image-heavy documents.
How it works
1. Choose a PDF file. 2. Set compression level. 3. Compress PDF. 4. Compare file size. 5. Download compressed PDF.
Which compression level should I choose?
Low: best quality and smaller savings. Balanced: good compromise for most documents. Strong: smallest file with possible quality loss through page rasterization.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Processing happens entirely locally in your browser. File contents, file names, and metadata are not sent to our servers.
Why is my PDF not much smaller?
Many PDFs are already compressed or contain mostly text and vector graphics. For those files, only a small size reduction is often possible.
Does text stay searchable?
With lossless optimization, text is preserved when possible. In raster mode, text selection and search may be lost.
Which PDFs are supported?
Normal, non-password-protected PDF files are supported. Very large or technically complex documents depend on your device’s available memory.
